International English School of Castellón has reached the pinnacle of school chess by being proclaimed the absolute champion of the Provincial School Circuit of Castellón. This prestigious tournament, organised by the Chess Federation of the Valencian Community (FACV), featured a total of 43 educational centers, highlighting the magnitude of the success achieved by our students.
The team secured their definitive victory after a brilliant performance at the recent Magdalena Youth Chess Open, where they earned the runner-up spot, gaining the necessary points to lead the circuit’s general classification.
The Provincial Circuit tested the players’ consistency over several months of competition, travelling through various venues across the province: the Alcossebre Youth Olympiad, the Three Kings Tournament in Alcalà de Xivert, the Tales Youth Open, and the Magdalena Festivities Youth Open in Castellón.
This success is the result of collective effort. The team that competed in the final tournament consisted of Si-Heon Park, Adrián Marín-Buck Piquer, Javier Navarro Romaguera, Guillermo Marín-Buck Piquer and Karam Maayah Al Maaita.
Additionally, it is essential to recognise the valuable contributions of Artem Stakhurskyi and Marta Miakisheva, who also represented the school in various phases of the circuit, helping to secure key points for the final ranking.
For the teaching staff, this triumph goes beyond trophies, highlighting the values of concentration and sportsmanship that chess fosters in the student body. “I am immensely proud of the work done by all the students. It has been a journey of great effort, and seeing them enjoy themselves while competing at the highest level is the greatest reward. I am very happy with this title, which establishes the school as a benchmark for chess in Castellón,” says Daniel Vaquer, the school’s chess teacher.
From International English School of Castellón, we want to congratulate the entire team on this historic milestone. Congratulations, champions!
