FAQ’s
Our school follows the British education system, providing a comprehensive, high-quality and internationally recognised education (English National Curriculum). As an authorised British School in Spain, we also follow compulsory components of the Spanish curriculum.
We welcome students from ages 1 to 18, covering all stages from Early Years and Primary, through to Secondary and Sixth Form.
Yes, we are accredited by British educational authorities and fully recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education, allowing students to receive both British and Spanish qualifications. Authorisation is achieved through undertaking inspection by the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS).
Students at our school primarily use physical books as part of their learning experience. However, we also integrate digital tools to enhance their education. From Year 3 to Year 13, students use Chromebooks to support their studies.
English is the main language at the International English School of Castellón. Spanish is introduced from the first year of Early Years (Baby Bears). In the Primary and Secondary stages, specific subjects required by the Spanish curriculum are taught in Spanish, such as Spanish languages and Spanish cultural studies. Additionally, in line with the educational regulations of the Comunidad Valenciana, Valencian is included in the curriculum from Year 2 to Year 11.
From Year 3, students are exposed to both French and German, and in Year 4, they choose to continue studying one of the two languages.
From Year 2 onwards, students study Valenciano as a subject in line with the educational regulations of the Comunidad Valenciana. They typically have one session per week, allowing them to develop a basic understanding of the language and its cultural significance. Students can choose to continue studying Valenciano in Years 12 and 13 in order to achieve official certification.
Although we follow the British education system, students are still required to take Spanish as a language. For those who need extra support in Spanish, we offer additional lessons where Spanish is taught as a foreign language. These sessions are designed to help students develop their language skills and ensure they can keep up with the required level.
Although we follow the British education system, students are still required to study certain key subjects from the Spanish curriculum, which include Spanish history and culture. This ensures that they gain a strong understanding of Spain’s heritage, traditions, historical and geographical context alongside their British education.
All students follow the British educational system as well as the key subjects of the Spanish curriculum, which allows students to obtain a double educational qualification that’s recognised both nationally and internationally. Students obtain the Spanish secondary (ESO) certificate in Year 11 and the Spanish baccalaureate (bachillerato) certificate in Year 13.
